Description:
"Costello and Anderson are two of my favourite fictional detectives, I can picture them in my head, hear their sharp barbed retorts and smile as they bounce perfectly off one another." Sharon
Meet your next favourite Scottish detectives: DI Colin Anderson and DS Winifred 'Freddie' Costello.
Eric Callaghan is stabbed to death at a crowded Christmas Ice Show in front of his wife and daughter. He dies within minutes.
Murdered in plain sight. No clues, no witnesses, no known motive.
A week later, two bodies are discovered at a holiday cottage in a remote Highland glen. One in the kitchen, the other sprawled outside in the snow.
The only footprints found belong to the local police officer's son who discovered the bodies.
The murdered couple swapped cottages with the family next door at the last minute. Who were the real targets?
Now Detectives Anderson and Costello must hunt down a killer who leaves no trace.
AN ELECTRIFYING SCOTTISH THRILLER WITH A HEART-STOPPING FINALE.
Fans of Ian Rankin, Val McDermid, Denise Mina, Matt Brolly, Carol Wyer, Joy Ellis, Stuart MacBride, Angela Marsons, Helen H. Durrant, J.D. Kirk, D.S. Butler and L.J. Ross will love this series.
What readers are saying about The Red, Red Snow:
"This is such an excellent series. The characters are so well-drawn and so alive." Rony
" A really good twisty novel. I kept thinking I knew what was happening only to have the story completely upended - again." Shauna
"Caro Ramsay produces yet another cracking tale, like beads on a rosary. The setting is magnificent, Anderson and Costello their usual bitey selves. I loved it." John
"This was such a great book, the twists, turns and surprises are incredible . . . I would give it more than 5 stars if I could. Highly recommended!" Hannelore
" This book is an absolute triumph. I have loved this series . . . each and every one had been exceptional. Great characters, strong storylines, with a great twist along the way." Alex
"An attention-grabbing procedural with unsettling surprises inside every snowbank." Kirkus
"Pithy dialogue, plenty of wintery Highland atmosphere, and villains that readers will love to hate make this a perfect accompaniment for a wee dram by the fireside." Publishers Weekly
THE DETECTIVES
DI Colin Anderson: A well-qualified graduate with true Scottish grit. He's calm, efficient and focused - despite his marriage falling apart, and the fact that he's just a tiny bit in love with the boss's wife.
DS Winifred "Freddie" Costello: Pithy, sometimes crabbit (as they say in Glasgow), Costello is incredibly capable, but not above pushing boundaries when needed. She's a well-respected officer who always puts police work first. She's had a crush on DCI McAlpine for many years now, but that doesn't stop her getting the job done.
THE SETTING
Drizzly, grey Glasgow and its seedy backstreets along with up-and-coming new estates is the setting for this gritty series. The realities of poverty and crime are laid bare - with the underfunded police department trying to keep the damn from breaking.
