The Impact of World War Two on South-East Asia - A self-study reader for (IB) Hist...

The region of South-East Asia has seen profound changes, dynamics and developments since World War Two - revolutions, civil wars, military coups. But what is undeniable is that the period of the Second World War marked a paradigm shift for the region.
This primer, or reader is not intended to be a replacement for a suitably skilled and knowledgeable classroom teacher. That said, it is suitable for self-study and will be a suitable resource for structured examination revision for any hardworking student determined to master the material. While aimed at secondary students, the emphasis on historiography, wealth of sources and amount of questions mean that first year undergraduates may find the primer of some value. The primer does assume some knowledge of essay writing skills and these are not taught as we would normally but there are some tips and tricks that some candidates may find useful.
The sections/chapters follow the International Baccalaureate prescription for Paper 3 in IB History (the Asia/Pacific region), with the various key questions and themes stated. As well as key historical information in each section/chapter, we have also provided a variety of sources (photographs, maps, quotes and cartoons) for discussion and analysis and, near the end, a multi-choice quiz that should challenge you on the breadth of the topic.
