Solaris Mortem - The New Patriots

Terry Burrows is a long haul trucker on his way home from Bakersfield, CA when it happens. Solar flares that make the Carrington Event look like child's' play wash the sky in blinding, white light and all at once, the world as he knew it comes to a stop. Powerful CME blasts knock out the power grid worldwide as the sun continues its hellacious flares for nearly twenty-four hours. Two-hundred and fifty miles from home, Terry takes to the road on foot, his truck forever stalled on the Interstate. He hopes to find his family on the other side of his journey but finds a lot more than he bargained for. A new faction has risen to power, claiming his hometown and the people in it. After reuniting with his family, he hatches a plan for a dangerous escape, their only chance for a life free of the New Patriots' crushing boot. Little does he know, that fighting back against the system, against the New Patriots, is just the beginning, and he finds himself embroiled in a desperate battle to preserve a semblance of life as he knew it, ever after. Some blame God, some blame the government, but one thing is for certain: power players never let a good tragedy go to waste.
