As social sciences, philosophy, sociology, psychology and anthropology are concerned with memory, common sense and free will; mind, thought, speech and reason; relationships amongst individuals, family and community; and societal aspects such as criminology, sovereignty and anarchism. Social scientists argue that, currently, a global Power Élite supports privatization, reductions in government spending, deregulation and free trade; and uphold economic policies that include reducing worker benefits and decreasing wages. The gender pay-gap and the feminization of poverty are further issues that are currently being analysed.In the 21st century, the professionalization of the social sciences has meant that work tends to be undertaken exclusively by university professors who hold doctorates in particular fields and publish solely in peer-reviewed journals.
