My relationship with my father has been rocky at best, so when his new wife calls me for a favor, I almost say no. Something made me agree to help her, and it was the best decision that I've ever made.
I'm the Dean of a college, and her daughter who studied abroad is looking for an assistant professor position. She wants me to give her a job and keep an eye on her as she settles into the city. I know that I agreed to this but on the day that she's due to arrive, I almost call it off.

I would expect a girl who lived alone in a foreign country to have some street smarts, but Marcie is innocent and needs me to protect her and keep her safe. That's a job I'm more than happy to take on, but sometimes my temper gets the best of me and my possessive nature goes too far.
Family ties and work conflicts threaten to come between us, but when I set my mind on something, I don't quit.
